I have owned this car for approx 27 years. Only now selling it as I have lost storage and have nowhere else to put it. Really regrettable sale, but I've realised I'm never going to get around to doing it.

It came off the road to have new inner sills welded in and a few 'other jobs' to be done. The sills were done, 'the other jobs' weren't, and it went into storage waiting.

Fast forward one house build, 4 children, and 20 years later and it's still there!

I have got the Grill, bumpers and wings which are bolt on, and all lights.

It is basically very sound, no rust holes, but obviously it has been standing so long it needs completely going over. Mechanically it was very sound when it came off the road, although I can't guarantee anything now, all the jobs to be done were to the bodywork only.

I haven't tried to turn the engine or start it. I have mislaid the Owners docs, if I don't find them I'll apply for a replacement. Located in Wales. Obviously will need to be trailered away.

This car has been much loved and has documentation to prove it. Engine and gearbox reconditions. Extensive repairs to the body and much much more.
It had a couple of minor accidents to the front near-side and when the owner prior to me put it into a major Rover restorers to have a minor welding job it was discovered that the previous repairs had used rather too much fibreglass  and not enough metal (in fact the hull had been twisted and was two inches high and two inches short on the near-side front. )
The car was completely rebuilt using a later sound hull and is now rust free. (minor welds to front floor corners only)
It also has fibreglass valences, outer sills, and front and rear wings.
It passed its last MOT last September the tester commented on how good the hull was.
It is a good sturdy car that does everything one asks of it.
It has a towbar, four new Goodyear tyres, stainless exhaust new radiator and waterpump and all sorts of other items (like water hoses which it acquired during the rebuild or even more recently
Don't expect 'concours' but it looks right. With just a little paintwork it could be really fine.
I am selling following a major house fire which has left the car marooned in the front garden since last September. I now need cash to refurnish the house!
Please come and look if you want. Loads of contemporary manuals included.

This 1977 Rover 2200TC, is for spares only, though with lots of time and money, could be saved from the scrapyard.   The engine is a runner, and a good transplant for another car.  Clutch is good, but brakes are rubbish... Gear selection is a problem at times, although gearbox seems OK. Has had sills replaced, but the rustbug has found a meal in other places - however, panels, and doors are saveable. I bought this car to restore but find that I can not now give the time or cost to do so.   Needs to be trailered or A-framed  away.   Cash on collection.

Reluctant sale of a Rover P6 3500 V8 - Almond Yellow 1972. Will be sold in this Auction, I will not pull it and it is not listed elsewhere. This is it.

With V5.

The car needs welding and depending on how far you want to go it could do with some paint.

I purchased the inner an outer sills (both sides) with the intention of finding someone to weld them on for me. I don't think the whole sill needs replacing just some sections, however I have these for both sides.

My welding expertise is limited to repairing exhausts. Mechanically sound. I simply cannot weld to the standard required for this.
  • The car runs well with a Facet electrical fuel pump, which is more than capable. Costs £84 (still have the mechanical pump and a blanking plate.
  • Drives forwards, backwards and stops. Selects all gears well.
  • Rear callipers professionally serviced by MGBD these are now fitted, the front ones seem good however I have new pads ready to fit when needed. Cost £300
  • The fuel system has been cleaned and relined. The reserve tank switch has been bypassed. Lots of time spent.
  • All lights are in good order
  • Original stereo works
  • New tyres Cost £150
  • Original hub caps (not fitted in pictures but are here)
  • Workshop manual Cost £30
  • Couple of spares
  • New Distributor Cap
  • New Spark plugs and leads
  • Required panels, inner and outer sills and wheel arch sections included) Cost £250
  • Purely welding and cosmetic work required
The car starts, drives and sounds great when she's running.

I would like to keep the car, up until now I have stuck by my guns with the value that I see it at. However with a change in circumstances I am left with the reality that I won't be able to get this done for some time.

Collection only. Any questions please do so on here as I can share them with others. or call/text before 9pm any day. The car will drive up onto a trailer or recover vehicle.

On 20-Apr-16 at 10:16:24 BST, seller added the following information:

Also I forgot to mention that the front lights are new and have been modernised to the unsealed units so bulbs can be changed for £3 rather than £30 each.

I have taken photos of the car today, as the ones I first listed are quite old.

There is also a facebook page where I have posted a video/ will be posting a video of the car running. It is also easier on there to show more details if you ask.

The two long boxes in the last pic are the panels to be welded on. As I say you might be okay just cutting an patching. If you can weld or know someone that will then you can do well with this.

Q: Hi, is it the outer part of the inner box section of the sills that are rotten? As the outer sills on p6 are not welded on they are metal cover sills and are held on by screws so are non structural28-Apr-16
A: Hi, Thank you for bringing this up. I am sorry for the unclear description. The outer sills which bolt on are in good condition (both sides), I have removed one to inspect the severity of the corrosion behind. However the sill itself is solid. The sections I have are from JR Wadhams - (search -http://www.jrwadhams.co.uk/p6-bodywork-front.html) Sections - 9. Inner Sill (both sides) Sections - 10. Base Unit Side & Bottom Repair (both sides) Sections -5 .Front Splash Panel (both sides) I will be clear that not all of these sections need replacing but with these full panels the repair will be simpler and quicker. It is very difficult to show the corrosion I have more pictures on the facebook page. The floor panel in the car will need repairing. However I have not purchased any metal for this as it is apparently easy to find metal to repair this with. These purchased sections have never been out of the box so I guess they could be sold on/sent back if not required. I am expecting to lose out quite substantially on selling this, however I have little choice.
