Reluctant sale of a Rover P6 3500 V8 - Almond Yellow 1972. Will be sold in this Auction, I will not pull it and it is not listed elsewhere. This is it.
With V5.
The car needs welding and depending on how far you want to go it could do with some paint.
I purchased the inner an outer sills (both sides) with the intention of finding someone to weld them on for me. I don't think the whole sill needs replacing just some sections, however I have these for both sides.
My welding expertise is limited to repairing exhausts. Mechanically sound. I simply cannot weld to the standard required for this.
- The car runs well with a Facet electrical fuel pump, which is more than capable. Costs £84 (still have the mechanical pump and a blanking plate.
- Drives forwards, backwards and stops. Selects all gears well.
- Rear callipers professionally serviced by MGBD these are now fitted, the front ones seem good however I have new pads ready to fit when needed. Cost £300
- The fuel system has been cleaned and relined. The reserve tank switch has been bypassed. Lots of time spent.
- All lights are in good order
- Original stereo works
- New tyres Cost £150
- Original hub caps (not fitted in pictures but are here)
- Workshop manual Cost £30
- Couple of spares
- New Distributor Cap
- New Spark plugs and leads
- Required panels, inner and outer sills and wheel arch sections included) Cost £250
- Purely welding and cosmetic work required
The car starts, drives and sounds great when she's running.
I would like to keep the car, up until now I have stuck by my guns with the value that I see it at. However with a change in circumstances I am left with the reality that I won't be able to get this done for some time.
Collection only. Any questions please do so on here as I can share them with others. or call/text before 9pm any day. The car will drive up onto a trailer or recover vehicle.

Also I forgot to mention that the front lights are new and have been modernised to the unsealed units so bulbs can be changed for £3 rather than £30 each.
I have taken photos of the car today, as the ones I first listed are quite old.
There is also a facebook page where I have posted a video/ will be posting a video of the car running. It is also easier on there to show more details if you ask.
The two long boxes in the last pic are the panels to be welded on. As I say you might be okay just cutting an patching. If you can weld or know someone that will then you can do well with this.
Q: | Hi, is it the outer part of the inner box section of the sills that are rotten? As the outer sills on p6 are not welded on they are metal cover sills and are held on by screws so are non structural | 28-Apr-16 |
A: | Hi, Thank you for bringing this up. I am sorry for the unclear description. The outer sills which bolt on are in good condition (both sides), I have removed one to inspect the severity of the corrosion behind. However the sill itself is solid. The sections I have are from JR Wadhams - (search -http://www.jrwadhams.co.uk/p6-bodywork-front.html) Sections - 9. Inner Sill (both sides) Sections - 10. Base Unit Side & Bottom Repair (both sides) Sections -5 .Front Splash Panel (both sides) I will be clear that not all of these sections need replacing but with these full panels the repair will be simpler and quicker. It is very difficult to show the corrosion I have more pictures on the facebook page. The floor panel in the car will need repairing. However I have not purchased any metal for this as it is apparently easy to find metal to repair this with. These purchased sections have never been out of the box so I guess they could be sold on/sent back if not required. I am expecting to lose out quite substantially on selling this, however I have little choice. |
